Ellie Williams, Managing Director
My medico-legal journey started when I graduated from Bristol University with a 1st class honours degree in psychology. Shortly afterwards and initially to pay off my student debt, I started working for e-medicals as an administrator.
I’ve since found medico-legal solutions an exciting and rewarding business and I’m immensely proud of the part we play in bringing about justice for people whose lives have been adversely changed through no fault of their own. However, there is a down side as access to justice continues to be eroded, legal aid is in chaos and as a working class woman in a male dominated industry, I am all too aware diversity and inclusion is lagging behind the times. As the old Honda advert said, “Hate something? Change something. Make something better”
We have an opportunity and an obligation to do our very best for claimants and we should consider carefully how we can best represent them and the industry in general, yes we must be legally complaint but our responsibility doesn’t end there. I care about people and I will do my best for those who we act for today as well as those who will turn to e-medicals in the future. Whether they have suffered from a minor whiplash injury or a life changing catastrophic injury, I appreciate each one is an individual seeking justice. Unfortunately, some claimants may find additional barriers in their path be they children, immigrants or the vulnerable and it matters to me, and to e-medicals that we do all we can to help. I’m not sure all medical agencies could put their hand on their heart and say that.
In 2004 I joined e-medicals as Finance Manager after studying at Bath university and then qualifying as a chartered Accountant. I didn’t expect to be here twenty years later! Working at e-medicals, now as co-owner and financial director, has been hugely fulfilling, continuously busy, a massive learning curve, and challenging at times too. The years have truly flown by. We have a really great team here at e-medicals and I think that together we’ve managed to navigate the ever-changing landscape of the PI industry well. When I am not working I like campervanning and enjoying our countryside. I occasionally enjoy the fruits of our west country orchards, and I fancy myself as something of a comedian. My four children are yet to appreciate my unique comedic style, but my four dogs and two cats are very loyal fans.
I started working in the accounts department at E-Medicals and Medcare after a varied career including jobs in telecoms, catering & hospitality and sports & leisure. I am now a Medcare case handler, dealing with my own caseload of treatment and diagnostic referrals. I find it very rewarding to see cases through from start to finish and building relationships with our instructing parties as well as claimants. I also really enjoy working with my colleagues at the office where we have a lovely working atmosphere. I am a busy mum to two sporty teenagers and am often involved in fundraising for their clubs outside of work. When I have some spare time I enjoy reading, travelling and walking my dog, Nala.
I joined Medcare as a case handler after fifteen years working in Health & Social care. Working in children’s residential care was hugely rewarding but after 15 years it was time for change, and I am happy to have been able to bring so much experience into my role as Medcare team coordinator. I love working together with our fabulous Medcare team, finding solutions and overcoming challenges to ensure we deliver the very best service to claimants. I genuinely care about our clients and I strive all the time to help them as best I can, with honesty and integrity and most of all with kindness. In my free time I enjoy exciting sporting activities like skiing and skydiving. I have a very much-loved vintage campervan and I enjoy taking her on road trips and to festivals in the Summer. I do sometimes like to relax with a good book too.
I started work at Medcare twelve years ago after studying sociology at university, and then spending some time exploring Europe. Working in the Medcare team I deal with treatment and diagnostic cases and one of the things I enjoy most is handling our referrals for psychological therapies. I find it very rewarding to know that the work that I am doing is making a real and meaningful difference to people’s lives. I also look after Medcare’s panel of treatment and diagnostic providers and I enjoy the challenges that this brings. At home, I like spending time with my family. I have an energetic five year old boy who keeps me busy but when I get some free time, I enjoy running and keeping fit.
I am most definitely a solutions person and I don’t give up when faced with a challenge, in fact my 16 years industry experience helps me find a solution to almost anything! It is important to me to foster an open and honest working environment which encourages the team to share experiences, making them more effective. I understand what solicitors need from a medical agency and make it my priority to ensure we have the skills and capabilities of meeting those needs.
I am a case handler specialising in Medco RTA cases. After completing my English degree, my career included roles in publishing, IT and finance. The common thread throughout has been my ability to create and manage effective work flows that provide support to all users and that is why I enjoy working with Medco claimants so much. I take pride in my work knowing that represented and unrepresented claimants alike are receiving the best medico-legal support available.
Before joining e-medicals, I worked as a Personal Injury Fee Earner so I really understand the broader context of my role. The best part of my job is dealing with highly complex cases and I take pride in finding the most suitable medical experts for each case.
I am bilingual which has helped me create a great working relationship with Polish speaking claimants.
I studied Law at De Montford University, Leicester before embarking on a career in the NHS and later the pharmaceutical industry, this gave me valuable experience and knowledge that I regularly apply to medico-legal case-handling. My real strength however lies in problem-solving, I am tenacious, always do my research and consider all options before delivering the best solution for claimant solicitors and their clients. I am a very happy and smiley person by nature and this reflects in my positive approach to customer service which builds great relationships with our instructing law firms.
Before joining e-medicals, I was a Customer Service Manager at a high-street bank and this has really shaped the way I approach my role. I’m a detail person so easily identify problems and solutions which has helped me build a great rapport with our customers and their clients. Learning and development is important to me and I recently completed an “Introduction To Law” course in my spare time. This just pushes me further in assisting clients in the way I know best, personally.
With bags of experience in every aspect of case handling my current role focuses on complex multi-track cases. Integrity is really important to me so I do all I can to build up a relationship with our instructing parties, this gives me insight into their needs and expectations which I then do everything I can to meet and exceed them.
I am involved with the end-to-end finance function from budget planning and invoicing to legal compliance, whilst all the time providing support and guidance to other internal departments.
Accounts isn’t usually a department at the forefront of customer service but we shouldn’t underestimate the role we play. I regularly speak with our instructing solicitors and enjoy the contribution I make to developing strong working relationships.
We find [e-medicals] go over and above the levels of service we have experienced from other medical agencies. We have been particularly impressed with their responsiveness to queries from us and our clients and their willingness to assist where unusual difficulties arise

The service we have received from e-medicals has been outstanding. They are extremely customer focused and are able to find solutions. Their panel of experts is wide-ranging and they have been able to find experts on their panel where larger Tier 1 Companies have failed to do so. I couldn’t recommend them highly enough

Unlike other Medical Agencies (e-medicals) will appoint a case handler who becomes the key contact for the individual case. This ensures both continuity and certainty as every client is different. They will go to great lengths to identify and source the most appropriate expert based upon a client’s individual needs, ensuring the process for obtaining medical evidence is as smooth as possible. The result; they really do provide high quality medical reports for personal injury claims.

I have been using the services of [e-medicals] & Medcare for over 6 years now. I find them always efficient and knowledgeable in a competitive industry. They are adaptable which is important in a legal sector that is constantly evolving and they are willing to “think outside the box” and for me that sets them apart from other agents.
